Are you Ready?

Good Morning Sunshine! I hope you are well. Today's question is Are You Ready? Ready for what you may ask? Homecoming? Graduation? College? The Real World? This time right now will prepare you for tomorrow. Think about all your actions. For every action there is a reaction.Your actions today will cause your reaction for tomorrow. Think smart about all you do. Think you plans through completely. Be ready for whatever life throws your way. Learn to be a listener instead of always a talker. You will learn so much more. So I'm asking the question again...Are You Ready?  Sending Love! ~Ms. A

I rather be a bridge builder then a ditch digger

Good Morning Sunshine! Happy Homecoming Week! Well I should say Good Night since today is pajama day. Have you ever heard the phrase, "dig one ditch you better did two because the trap you set for me just may be for you." As we were going to Elizabeth City yesterday, my mom put on a CD of a sermon in and as I listened to this sermon, it started making me think. The one thing that was said that stuck with me was that he said I rather be a bridge builder than a ditch digger at least I will be on top. So just a bit of advice, be a bridge builder. Put down your shovel and become a bridge builder. You don't want to dig your own ditch.

In Memory of my Brother! Happy Birthday Andy!

A Very Powerful Poem by a Wonderful Woman

STILL I RISE
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

Attitude of Gratitude

Have you ever took things for granted? Have you ever took a person kindness for a weakness? Do you expect people to just do something because they are "suppose to"? We sometimes don't think about the little things that people do for us and we don't say Thank You! We need to learn to have an attitude of gratitude. Be thankful for all the things that people do for you whether its big or small. So let me be the first to start. I am thankful for having each one of you in my life. I am thankful for the smiles that you greet me with each day. I am thankful for the concern that you show when I don't look right or you can tell something is wrong. I am thankful for the kind words that you give to me and the little notes that you leave me. To sum it up in a five words; I AM THANKFUL FOR YOU! ~Sending Love Ms. A

And the reason for doing it was.....

You ever sit back and think about things you have done and wonder why? Like why did I ever date that person? Why didn't I do that project when I first got it instead of waiting until the last minute? Why did I pick that up knowing its not mind? Why do people say, I love you, and they don't? These are things people do all the time and knowing its wrong. What the logic behind it? For what reason do with do these things? Is it to belong? To impress others? To be accepted by others? Just in case you have forgotten; you came in this world by yourself and you are going to leave this world by yourself. Its good to have people in your life to help guide you down the right path but in the end the decision is up to you. You make your own decisions. As I said yesterday, YOU are the captain of your ship...... Sending Love! ~Ms. A.

You are the Captain of your Ship....

"I've got sunshine on a cloudy day....." Good Morning Sunshine! I was having a talk with a friend of mines last night about some things that was going on in their life and I told them that they control their destiny. So as I was driving home last night, I thought about you all. Most of you are seniors and the rest are soon to be. Its time for you to make decisions that will affect the rest of  your life. Sometime instead of being on FB or My Space, how about get a head start on college. Create and fill out completely your CFNC account. Get a jump start on some work or a project that you know you have coming up. Don't want to the last minutes and be stressed out. Yea, I know everyone is not going to college but start looking for a job or enlisting in to the Armed Force. You all have so many talents, don't be afraid to use them. Become a positive, motivating force within your own life, because you are the one for me. You drive me to want to stick with education even through all the drama and headaches that comes with it. I believe in you and I just want you all to believe in yourself. As the title states, YOU are the captain of your ship....it's up to you settle sail or be shipwreck. Sending Love! ~Ms. A.

A word from the Doctor.......

As I sit back and listened the past couple of weeks to some of the issues that you all are facing and worry about or things that are going on in the world I wonder who is willing to do anything about? A famous doctor once said, “Unless someone like you care a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Its not.”  So I thought about it and wanted to know, if you can trade places with ANYONE and change one thing, what would it be and why?
Sending Love! ~Ms. A

PS: The Doctor that said those words is..........Dr. Suess

Giving Your Best Effort

Have you ever asked yourself this question?  Am I giving my best effort in everything I do in life?  We all sometimes wonder why circumstances happen and what could we have done to avoid them.  Just by giving 100% and giving your best effort, you change any circumstances in life and see a different outlook on it.  There are some very talented and smart people that would've changed the world but they didn't give their best effort.  So don't fall in that category and give your best effort in everything you do!!!  Aim for the moon so if you miss, you'll still be with the stars!!!   Written by a near and dear friend.  Sending Love, Ms. A

Divine Nine Project for CFNC

Hello Sunshine!
We have done projects on Colleges that you will soon see posted in the Student’s Common Area. Now we are going to find out about Greek Life.
Each group has been giving an organization and a poster board. I want you to do research on your organization. You need to give me all the “good stuff” on your org. When, where, how old, how many members, colors, mascot, motto if you can find it and anything else that you think would be good information to make me interested in joining your organization. Have fun with it. Decorate your poster to be catchy to the eye. Good Luck!
Ms. A
(Some helpful info: It’s “Ice Cold” but a “Dove” and a “Frog” lives in the “Big House” on Campus.  A “Cat” purrs around the 1000 building. There is a whole lot of “Elephants” quacking on the campus. The “Frog” in the “Big House” is not alone; there are a couple of more leaping around. And  a “Dawg” guards the 900 Building.)

Its all about the PINK!

Good Morning Sunshine! I hope you had a beautiful weekend. As I sit her and watch Sunday Football, all I see is is pink. Pink shoes, pink gloves, pink ribbons on hats, shirts and uniforms, pink pom pom, pink goal post wraps, pink wristbands, just pink everywhere! So what's up with all this pink? Pink its for breast cancer and if you notices a lot of people support it. Just curious but why don't high school athletics do something? How would you feel if we had a PINK day? Just want your opinion on it. Sending Love! ~Ms. A

As I sit back and look at things around here, I see so may things that could be done a million and one different ways. If I see it and know you all see and I often wonder if the shoe was on the other foot how would you handle it. So I want you to tell me what you see and how would you handle problems.

Happy Birthday Amber!
