Pants on the Ground?

"Are you an old fogy like me. Are you kind of old fashioned like I am. If you are, I have good news for you, the city of Albany, Georgia has a law to prevent the wearing of baggy saggy pants. Everybody has noticed at one time or another that particularly teens are wearing their trousers just a little below theirwaste. Normally you get a glimpse of their striped boxers if they have underwear on at all. Albany plans to stop this silliness by the law that was enacted about a year ago. On November 23, of last year a law was enacted in Albany to prevent people from wearing baggy saggy pants. I'm not sure if their law violates our right of free speech or not; but I'm sure some folks may want to argue the point; particularly teenaged boys, who seem to be the biggest offenders.
Since the law was enacted the town has collected almost $4,000 in fines and issued close to 200 citations. On the first offence of letting your underwear be seen, you get a slap on the wrist with a $25 fine. The fine can be as much as $200. The ordinance reads that you can not have the top of your pants or top of your skirt lower than three inches below the top of your waste.
I think that it is absolutely ridiculous that laws have to be enacted to regulate how clothes are to be worn. My mom and dad taught me how to pull my pants up when I was about three. They even gave me suspenders to keep them up. Where are the parents of these rebellious teens. Fines shouldn't be enacted to solve thisproblem, an old fashioned trip to the woodshed would help. Parents will end up paying the fines with the children getting no punishment at all. Thank God this city in Georgia sees the problem. Most towns either don't see theproblem or don't care about it. Personally I've seen more teen underwear then I ever cared to see." From an article in Georgia

  1. I agree with the new law. Most of the old folks in my family are always complaining about how young people nowadays don't have any home training and let their behinds be exposed. It will make the old people happy!

  2. If parents payed a little more attention to how their child's clothes were being worn, baggy pants(clothes) would not be a problem.

  4. In my family there is no doubt that sagging was not allowed because before my papa passed he didn't except any of his grandchildren have their pants below their waste and will continue this action for him.

  5. Sagging Is Not allowed in my house at all. My brother comes home every so often, and before he come into the house he makes sure his pants aren't hanging off his bottom.

  6. I dont care about the saggy pants. Just as long the person that is wearing the pants is nice and respect to me, I dont care what they have on or how they are wearing it.

  7. I agree with Alfred but sometimes parents dont care about the way their children are dressed. We need a law in North Carolina to prevent baggy pants from being worn because i get tired of seeing boxers.

  9. I think the law is good in a way because no one wants to see someones underwear. Teen boys should set their own examples by pulling their pants up then there would be no complaints and no fines to pay.
