Do you really pay attention?

Ever heard the phrase, "If it was a snake it would have bit you." because something was sitting right in front of you but you just didn't pay it any attention or you ignored it? I once heard a retired teacher say that he gave a student a book to take home and gave him an assignment to do in the book. Because the student didn't pay attention to the teacher, the student missed out on $100 bill that was placed on the page the student was told to do with the student's name on it. Some times we miss out on good things because we don't pay attention to the simple things. Some things can be presenting to us plain as the nose on our face and we still miss it. What is your view on this? Do we pay attention to what we ONLY want to see or are we just that busy that we miss out on the "good things" and not see it until its too late. Comment back with your thoughts.

  1. I believe that we pay attention to what we only want to see verses us just being that busy that we miss out on great things. We, as humans are sometimes stubborn and we do things our own way in our own time; not realizing that sometimes its better to pay attention.

  2. I think that we don't pay attention to things that we dont want to. If it is nothing that we are interested in then we dont really care about it.

  3. i think people miss out on lots of things because they allow others or things to keep them from noticing it. paying attention and following direction are allows keys to being successful.

  4. in my opinion, people only want to see what they want to. but then again sometimes we don't WANT to see certain things because we're scared of the outcome.

  5. I think that we only pay attention to what we want and we don't really notice what doesnt interest us. Then in result for us not paying attention we never experience the outcome.

  6. I think that we only pay attention to the things that we want to see. For example: If the student, that was stated above, was a student that loved doing work and putting they're best foot forward they would've payed attention to the reward because it would'vw been something they wanted to do.

  7. I believe we only pay attention to what we only want to. Some may blame it on being bored or not interested in what is going on but you can't consider something boring if you weren't paying attention. We sometimes don't take in consideration that what is being said or done could help us in the long wrong.

  9. I believe that it is a little of both but more than likely we don't pay attention to things that we don't really want to see or don't believe are important. Most of us have a one track mind and find many things irrelevant.

  10. Most of the time we pay attention to the things that we only care about or want to see. If it it is something that we dislike then nine times out of ten we won't bother to look. Sometimes, we do get very busy and we don't see everything. I will agree that we ignore and pay attention to the things that we want too. At the end of the day, i believe that we should pay attention any and everything, no matter how big or small it is. Everything has a reason behind it, whether you see it or not. Pay attention to everything.

  11. We only pay attention to things we want to hear. It has to catch our mind in order for us to do something like homework most people dont worry about it cause its nothing to us long as it catches our minds then we will do it.

  12. I think that it is a little of both. For example, some people that are in our lives, we know things about them that may be reason to regard them carefully or keep them from our lives completely, but we choose not to see those things because we tend to try to keep the things we want. Other times that we dont see things are simply because we do not try hard enough. We have that mindset that if it is not obvious, we give up looking for it and miss out.

  13. I feel like nine times out of ten, we, as humans pay attention to the things that catches our attention before we pay attention to something that we should pay attention to. Although we should pay attention to everything more often, our minds isn't set to pay attention to the "boring things". we pay attention to what we want instead of what we should.
